Our Pre-School Committee
Our Pre-School is run by an elected parent management committee, which, in conjunction with our Manager ensure that major decision-making is in the hands of the parents who use the school.
Committee members are responsible for reviewing both policies and practice, helping in the employment and appraisals of members of staff and making decisions on the day-to-day running of the school.
We are a not-for-profit charity, so we hold regular fundraising events with all proceeds going back into the Pre-School to provide new equipment and resources for the children.
The committee drives our fundraising activity. Even though Pre-School is funded by government funding/fees from children attending, this only pays for the staff and general running of the Pre-School.
The committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting, held in June. Parents are informed in good time giving the opportunity to attend. A list of Committee Members, contact details and photos are on our notice board.
The committee is a crucial element in the success of the Pre-School and the skills and time contributed by committee members is highly valued.
Volunteering for the committee
Being part of the committee is a great way of getting involved with your child’s first school experiences and giving something positive to the local community. You may be able to use current skills or learn new ones while volunteering with us. It is a great way of meeting other parents too.
By putting across your views as a parent through the committee, we can be assured the pre-school is run to the needs of parents and children.
Generally we meet on a monthly basis. Joining the committee is typically for a year at a time as a minimum and the changeover happens in June at the AGM where new volunteers are sought. However additional members can join throughout the year with a maximum of 3 being co-opted in during a school year period and making a total of 12 at any one time.
