Our History

Sonning Common Pre-School was formed in 1966 by a small group of mothers looking for a chance for their children to socialise. Its first home was Kidmore End Memorial Hall but within two years, with a waiting list of almost one hundred children, another group was set up in Christ The King Church Hall. This set-up continued until the late seventies when the administration of two individual groups was becoming unmanageable and the idea of owning their own building was conceived.

Sonning Common Primary School agreed to rent the site and the big fundraise commenced. Thanks to the Parish Council who granted a loan, the generosity of Chiltern Edge Community Association who agreed to act as guarantors and the incredible amount of hard work put in by parents the Preschool opened on its present site in 1981.

In March 2011 after many years of hard work and dedication by staff, committee and parents we moved into a new purpose built building, still remaining on the same site. The building is eco-friendly and now has a more secure garden and disabled facilities.
