A 50th Anniversary Summer Fair Extravanganza!

Posted on Posted in Uncategorised

The Pre-School celebrated their 50th year in style this July, with a bigger and brighter Summer Fair.  A huge dedicated team of fair organisers worked hard to put together the most successful Summer Fair yet.

The emphasis of the fair was on everyone having a fun and relaxing day out with lots to keep everyone occupied.  Highlights included celebrity guest stars ‘The Twirlywoos’ making an exciting appearance and, much to the children’s delight, they were incredibly cuddly!

Chico the pony was another favourite as the lovely miniature pony could be stroked and fed by little ones.

Various local stall holders made their first appearance this year and parents could relax and browse, knowing their children were having fun in the ‘ride on’ area – another huge hit.

Other attractions worthy of a mention were two bouncy castles (courtesy of the sponsor Bridges Estate Agents), hugely popular vintage tractor rides, penalty shoot-out area, face painting, sponge throwing, picture treasure hunt, adult bottle tombola and children’s jar tombola. As well as all the usual pre-school games such as hook a duck, spin the wheel and ping pong jars!

An informal children’s soft play area created a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere in the garden, where parents and children could find a plentifully stocked/donated cake stall, a tasty local Butcher donated BBQ stall and a well stocked Bar.

With fabulous weather and between 400-500 visitors, £2700 was raised – a result which the Committee and fundraising team were thrilled with. The pre-school is a charity and every penny of this money will go towards developing the outside space to create new varied learning areas for the children to enjoy.

Thank yous:

A BIG thank you to Clare Saunders (the Pre-School Manager) and all the fundraising team and volunteers who donated and helped on the day. Everyone worked tirelessly to bring the best possible result for the fair.  Another HUGE thank you must go to the Sponsors, Bridges Estate Agents who came on board this year with lots of enthusiasm and willingness to help the Pre-School raise as many funds as possible.  Andy and Liana from Bridges were even there on the day handing out red balloons.
